Frequently Asked Questions
Vision insurance (like VSP or EyeMed) is typically designed to cover routine eye exams, glasses, and contact lenses to help with refractive errors (like nearsightedness, farsightedness, or astigmatism). It focuses on wellness and corrective eyewear.
Medical insurance (like Blue Cross, Regence, or Medicare) is used for eye conditions that are considered medical in nature. This includes eye infections, injuries, glaucoma, cataracts, dry eye disease, diabetic eye exams, or sudden changes in vision. If your eye exam addresses a medical concern, it will likely be billed to your medical insurance.
That’s great! We’ll use your vision insurance for your routine annual exam and eyewear. If during that exam, or at a separate visit, a medical eye condition is identified or treated, we will then bill your medical insurance for those services. We will always work with you to ensure your benefits are utilized effectively.
es, please bring both cards if you have them! This allows us to accurately determine and verify your benefits, ensuring a smoother check-in process and helping us bill correctly.
We always recommend contacting your insurance provider directly for the most detailed information about your individual plan’s benefits, deductibles, co-pays, and out-of-network coverage. Our team can also help clarify common questions, but your insurance company is the definitive source for your plan specifics.
